I don't know if just Missouri does it, but one weekend during the summer, everything school related (supplies, clothes, laptops, etc..) doesn't have sales tax on it.

It's a state-by-state thing, not a federal thing. Some states do it, some don't (some, like Oregon, Nevada, and New Hampshire, don't have sales tax in the first place), and the time of year it happens varies. Here in Massachusetts our tax-free weekend is in the fall.

I believe that Amazon.com's income mostly comes from people who really want to avoid Wal Mart. There is no reason on earth to enter that store in today's age, other than to buy a pet or frozen food.

Only for the ceiling fluorescents. I went out for gas and I saw the packed parking lot. Best decision all day.

I live in a small town. Also don't go to the Bronx Zoo on a Wednesday. It's insane. Entitlement runs rampant, people will push you out of the way to look at something when there's a spot open five feet further down the path.

Yeah, even as a New Yorker I hate times square and most of the city, I prefer going uptown into the more relaxed arty hipstery areas that are calm and cool looking. I expect that every other day would be better because Wednesday is by donation so theoretically you could pay $1 and get in.

Wal-Mart is ALWAYS a last choice. Fortunately I make enough that I don't have to buy the cheapest Chinese crap available. i.e. I can afford Target.
